"Meeting Point" Dong Ram
After a period of preparation, recently, the People's Committee of Thanh My town (Nam Giang) organized a launching ceremony for the construction of Dong Ram community-based tourism village with many activities such as guidance on establishing a community tourism management board, training programs to raise people's awareness of developing community-based tourism associated with preserving and developing traditional culture.
Mr. Kaphu Tan - Chairman of Thanh My Town People's Committee said that the Dong Ram community-based tourism village model was built with a fairly detailed overall project.
In particular, taking the village culture and natural landscape of the land as a "meeting point" to connect experience tours for tourists, through the form of trekking tours, participating with locals in activities such as rice farming, bathing in streams, learning to cook, shooting slingshots, performing gong and drum art of ethnic minorities...
“The project to build a community-based tourism village in Dong Ram for the period 2024 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, was approved by the People's Council of Nam Giang district.
Thereby, to concretize Project 6 on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development under the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030.
The total budget for the project implementation in the 2024 - 2025 period is more than 7.2 billion VND. Through this project, we hope to effectively exploit the tourism potential in Dong Ram.
Specifically, exploiting cultural values and natural landscapes in sustainable tourism development, contributing to the task of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, expanding tourism activities, and creating income for local people" - Mr. Tan shared.
Dong Ram residential group is located about 3km from Ho Chi Minh road, and is considered to have great potential in developing community tourism.
In addition to the amazing landscape, located in the middle of a green valley surrounded by beautiful rocky mountains with many caves and stalactites, Dong Ram is also a long-standing community of the Co Tu, Tay, Nung, Gie Trieng... people who grow wet rice at the foot of the mountain.
This place also preserves traditional cultural values, especially the art of gong drums combined with Tinh lute performances and folk songs of ethnic minorities, traditional rituals and ceremonies imbued with the cultural colors of the mountainous region.
Link to exploit potential
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Nam Giang district said that Dong Ram is like the next step in the journey of linking to exploit the local tourism potential. This is because, before building the Dong Ram community-based tourism village project, Nam Giang had implemented tourism activities to serve the needs of sightseeing and experience for tourists.
A typical example is Za Ra tourist village (Ta Bhing commune) with the highlight being community culture combined with traditional cuisine and accommodation activities, exploring the daily life of the Co Tu people.
“To specify the contents and tasks according to Resolution 08 of the District Party Committee and Project 03 of the District People's Committee on developing Nam Giang tourism, in recent times, in addition to surveying and evaluating the potential and advantages of the region, we have initially built a foundation for developing community-based tourism models, creating ideal destinations for tourists.
In particular, choosing culture and cuisine as typical products to exploit tourism, bringing the most authentic and satisfying experience to visitors every time they set foot in Nam Giang" - Mr. Hung said.
Not outside the goal of developing sustainable community-based tourism, the factors of exploiting the potential of natural conditions and human ecology of the land are also focused on by the Nam Giang district government, considering it a typical tourism resource of this mountainous locality.
To enhance the experience for tourists, Nam Giang aims to build unique tourism products from community culture, aiming to retain tourists with interesting and unique experiences through folk games, enjoying cuisine and exploring the wild mountains and forests of the land.
