On October 19, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital and Merck Healthcare Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in improving the quality of cancer management and prevention.
The cooperation between the two units aims to improve the quality of treatment and care for cancer patients. Dr. Diep Bao Tuan, Deputy Executive Director of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, said that in 2023, the hospital will receive more than 720,000 patients for examination and treatment, of which about 82% will come from the provincial level.

According to Dr. Tuan, Oncology is a final-level specialized hospital. Under the pressure of serving the needs of patients and continuously improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, the hospital highly values domestic and foreign units accompanying the hospital with the goal of helping to increase the ability to access highly effective specialized treatment for patients.
Dr. Tuan added that it is expected that by the end of November, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital will put into operation a genetic counseling clinic. This place can detect cancer genetic genes, to advise the patient's family on appropriate measures.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will also pilot training for medical staff on palliative care (for cancer patients). It is expected to initially pilot in 2 districts, then expand the palliative care network throughout the city.
