NATO officials are concerned that Donald Trump's return to power will damage the alliance and paralyze joint efforts.

According to Politico on July 7, some figures connected to NATO said that officials of this organization are closely monitoring the developments of the US presidential election.
They are particularly concerned that incumbent President Joe Biden could lose his upcoming re-election campaign, and believe that Mr. Trump's return to power would damage the alliance and paralyze efforts to fight the conflict in Ukraine.
“We all want Biden to have a second term to avoid having to face Trump again, but it’s not really a certainty,” one official said.
In addition, NATO officials expressed concerns about Mr. Biden's age and health.
President Biden appeared confused and incoherent in his first debate with Republican Donald Trump last week, reinforcing rather than dismissing existing concerns about his health at age 81.
His lackluster performance has prompted some Democratic politicians , donors and other supporters to call for Mr Biden's candidacy to be dismissed.
The US presidential election is scheduled to take place next November. The main candidates expected to be elected are Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump, both of whom have won enough delegates to become the candidates of the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively.
The two candidates are scheduled to have their next debate on September 10.
