Distinguish between card number and account number

ATM card number is a series of 12 - 19 digits depending on the bank, embossed directly on the front or back of the card.

Through this series of numbers, banks can identify and distinguish between ATM cards in the same system, and manage user transactions more effectively. For users, ATM card numbers can be used in a number of transactions, especially online transactions to increase security.

Meanwhile, bank account numbers are rarely printed directly on the card. Account numbers are usually provided by the bank as soon as the user successfully registers to open a card. Customers can view their account numbers on Internet Banking if they have registered for this service.

Should I transfer money via ATM card number or bank account number?

Currently, money transfers via card number or bank account number can be done via ATM or Internet Banking. Each form has its own advantages and disadvantages.

When transferring money via account number, the beneficiary will receive the money immediately if it is in the same system. But if it is in a different system, the transaction time will be longer than in the same system. Another advantage of transferring money via account number is that all banks today provide money transfer services via account number in the same system or different systems.

With money transfer via ATM card number, users only need the ATM card number to easily make a transaction. Note, this transaction is only for debit cards with the card number being a series of numbers embossed on the card. The disadvantage of money transfer via card number is that not many banks currently support money transfer via ATM card number.

Therefore, depending on needs and purposes, customers can consider and choose the appropriate money transfer method.
