On April 1 (Moscow time), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, who is currently visiting Moscow, many issues in bilateral relations and current affairs.

The Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Moscow quoted a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry saying that the two sides discussed the schedule for high-level and top-level contacts.

The Chinese minister outlined three main tasks for cooperation between Moscow and Beijing in a changing world. The first is to create a solid material foundation for bilateral relations, strengthen cooperation in trade, economy , energy, and tap the potential in technological innovation and green development to create additional growth momentum.

The second stated goal is to expand opportunities for “shared prosperity by further expanding openness to each other, sharing experiences and innovative achievements for the sake of enhancing cross-sectoral integration.”

The third task is to add momentum to global development and promote deeper cooperation between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union EAEU.

On the international front, the Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers discussed security and risks in the Asia-Pacific region, touched on regional developments related to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Iran's nuclear program, the situation in Central Asia, and discussed the prospects for the formation of a new security architecture in Eurasia amid the deterioration of Euro-Atlantic mechanisms.

On the issue of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict around Ukraine as a basis for reaching lasting peace agreements.

Earlier, in an interview with Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Mr. Wang Yi said that the unbreakable friendship between Moscow and Beijing began with the common resistance against fascism and militarism during World War II.

China's top diplomat reiterated that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Great Patriotic War and the World Anti-Fascist War./.
