Proud list of achievements
At the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad held in Australia, Tran Minh Hoang, a 12th grade Math 1 student at Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, won a gold medal, bringing the school's total number of international gold medals to 6. Previously, Minh Hoang won a silver medal at the 2024 competition.
In recent years, the school has continuously had students achieve high results in international Olympic competitions. Typical students include Phan Nhat Duy - Gold medal at the 2017 International Mathematical Olympiad, ranked 3rd in the Vietnamese delegation; Vo Anh Duc - Gold medal in 2013, achieving 34/42 points, the highest in the Vietnamese team; Trinh Kim Chi - Gold medal at the 1998 Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad.

Not only in Mathematics, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted also made its mark in Chemistry when it had students winning gold medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad for two consecutive years, namely Dinh Cao Son - gold medal in 2023, ranked 7th out of 350 contestants; Phan Xuan Hanh - gold medal in 2022.
Many other students of the school also won silver and bronze medals at regional and international Olympics, contributing to an impressive "golden list of achievements".
Not only is the school outstanding in the international arena, it has also made a strong impression in national competitions for excellent students. Since its establishment in 1991, the school has had 1,651 students achieving the title of national excellent students, ranking among the leading schools in the country in terms of quantity and quality of awards.
In addition, the school’s annual national high school graduation exam results are always among the top in the country. Many students have achieved the title of national and provincial valedictorians.

Sharing with VietNamNet, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Binh, Vice Principal of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, said: "The success of students is the result of their constant efforts, the dedication of the teaching staff, and the close attention of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province and the provincial leaders."
Ms. Binh emphasized that the school's mission always focuses on discovering and nurturing talented students, aiming to train high-quality human resources for the country.
"Legendary teacher" and "super class"
Ms. Nguyen Thi My Binh said that, besides the students' talent and close support from their families, the key factor that helped them win international gold medals was the dedication and enthusiasm of the teaching staff who directly trained them.

“Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted is proud to have Mr. Tran Dinh Huu, a math teacher with excellent expertise, who is not only good at his subject but also has the ability to inspire and arouse students' passion for math. He is highly appreciated by his colleagues and students for successfully training two students to win gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad, a very rare achievement,” Ms. Binh shared.
Mr. Huu is the one who contributed to the success of his two students Tran Minh Hoang and Phan Nhat Duy, students who have excelled in the international intellectual arena, bringing glory to Vietnam.
In addition to the two students who won international gold medals, hundreds of students who were trained by Mr. Huu have won national prizes in Mathematics. Many of them have been admitted directly to prestigious universities at home and abroad.
Despite being called a “legendary teacher” in the Math world, Mr. Tran Dinh Huu remains very modest. He believes that the most important thing is not the formula or curriculum, but creating a fun learning environment, arousing passion and maintaining interest in each lesson.

“Each student is a unique individual with different strengths and weaknesses. I always try to adjust my teaching methods to help them maximize their abilities,” Mr. Huu shared.
He also pays special attention to connecting Math knowledge with practical situations, helping students understand and love Math, not just studying for exams. Not only is he a knowledge transmitter, Mr. Huu is also a person who inspires life and shapes the personality of his students. In his class, students not only learn Math but also practice life skills, teamwork, the ability to overcome pressure and challenges.
Therefore, the classes that he leads or trains excellent students are often called “superhuman classes” – where students who constantly strive and achieve outstanding results gather. Many of his former students are now successful in the fields of Science and Technology, and many have reached international levels.
