After 8 unsuccessful pregnancies, Ms. H (born in 1978, from Ninh Binh ) had undergone artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization many times but the good news did not come. On the 9th embryo transfer in early 2023, she became pregnant and the arduous journey of keeping the pregnancy began.

Later, Ms. H was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was examined by an endocrinologist at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, treated with insulin, and given nutritional advice. Taking care of herself every day, the pregnant woman could not hide her happiness when she saw her baby healthy.

At 38 weeks and 3 days, the doctor felt it was the right time to welcome the baby into the world. That day, a baby girl weighing 2.8 kg was born in happiness.

In Vietnam, most pregnancies over 50 years old are due to assisted reproductive intervention. In July, Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital also successfully delivered a pregnant woman over 50 years old from Son La . The special thing is that this case was a natural pregnancy, when the pregnancy was discovered, she was 18 weeks old. The pregnant woman had 2 daughters before and had been a grandmother for nearly 2 years.

In April, Hanoi Hospital 354 also successfully delivered a 51-year-old woman from Bac Kan. This pregnant woman already had a grandchild, and when she noticed something unusual in her belly, she went for a prenatal check-up.

Doctors say that women who become pregnant and give birth at an older age face many risks such as preeclampsia and diabetes. The older the mother, the greater the risk of birth defects and developmental delays in her child.
