Vietnam and Japan have just signed and exchanged diplomatic notes on the Japanese side providing mine clearance equipment to Vietnam worth 500 million Yen within the framework of non-refundable aid cooperation for the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC).
Accordingly, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense , Head of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming the Consequences of Post-War Bombs, Mines and Toxic Chemicals in Vietnam and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Ito Naoki signed and exchanged a Diplomatic Note on the Project "Providing Mine Clearance Equipment".
This 500 million Yen project is within the framework of the Japanese Government's non-refundable aid cooperation program " Socio -Economic Development Plan" for VNMAC.

The project will provide VNMAC with equipment such as tree cutters and mine clearance machines using cutting-edge technology from Japanese companies. These equipment will be used for mine and UXO clearance in cooperation with provincial People’s Committees, including Quang Nam Province. This cooperation also aims to promote the clearance of UXO and reduce obstacles to development, and is expected to contribute to economic and social development through social stability.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Ito Naoki said that half a century has passed since the end of the war in Vietnam, but about 17% of the country's land area still has unexploded ordnance such as bombs and mines. This is the cause of annual casualties and threatens the safety of the people.
Through this project, by providing equipment related to unexploded ordnance clearance using superior technology from Japanese companies, Ambassador Ito Naoki hopes that unexploded ordnance clearance activities in contaminated areas such as Quang Nam province will be promoted, helping to create a safe environment for people to live in peace.
