Recently, the Department of Gastrointestinal Infectious Diseases, Institute of Clinical Infectious Diseases, 108 Central Military Hospital received a male patient born in 2005 from Hanoi .

Before being admitted to the hospital, the patient had a pimple on the lower lip on the left cheek, accompanied by swelling and redness. The patient squeezed the pimple himself and then had a fever of 38 degrees, chills and shivering. At home, he used fever reducer himself, but it did not help.

The family transferred the patient to the 108 Central Military Hospital in a state of high fever of 38 - 38.5 degrees, chills, dry lips; swollen left cheek and lip area, pus discharge, limited mouth opening; mild difficulty breathing, chest pain, oxygen support with glasses 3l/min.

The patient was tested and diagnosed with: Staphylococcus aureus sepsis from an abscess in the left facial-chin area, with secondary infection of bilateral necrotizing pneumonia.

Acne (commonly known as acne) is a common skin lesion in all ages.

Sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria trapped in pores cause pimples, which appear as red, tender bumps with white pus at the tip.

When a pimple forms, the pore swells and is under a lot of pressure. However, squeezing a pimple can disrupt the skin structure, causing further inflammation and infection, destroying the local inflammatory ring, forming other pimples around it.

In particular, on the face there is an area called the dangerous triangle. The way to determine this is to place your hand so that the tip of your middle finger touches the bridge of your nose, and your palm covers the entire nose-mouth and chin area.

This area has many veins that connect the nerves of the cranial region to help transport blood to the brain.

Normal veins have valves to prevent blood from flowing backwards, but the veins in this area are valveless.

Infected triangle area can cause diseases: Sepsis, meningitis, facial paralysis, facial nerve damage causing facial paralysis, even death.

According to Colonel Dr. Nguyen Dang Manh, Director of the Institute of Clinical Infectious Diseases, sepsis is a systemic toxic infection caused by the invasion of bacteria and bacterial toxins into the blood.

In sepsis, many dangerous complications often appear, especially septic shock, multiple organ failure, and high mortality rate.

Most types of bacteria that cause disease in humans can cause sepsis, however, some groups of bacteria such as Gram-negative bacteria are commonly encountered, including: Salmonella, Escherichia coli; Klebsiella; Serratia; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Burkholderia pseudomallei; A. baumannii

Gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus suis… Anaerobic bacteria: Clostridium perfringenes and Bacteroides Fragilis. Therefore, any injury to the body can cause infection and risk of sepsis.

According to doctors, to prevent sepsis, people need to take hygiene and safety measures at work and promptly handle infections.

Do not squeeze pimples on your own. Monitor and treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, cirrhosis, etc. to reduce the risk of infection.

Limit procedures, ensure aseptic principles, standard precautions. Do not overuse corticosteroids, use antibiotics as prescribed.
