The Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Transport have just sent a document to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in which they agree with the proposal to swap working days so that the April 30 - May 1 holiday lasts for 5 consecutive days.

Mr. Ha Tat Thang, Director of the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) said that by the end of today (April 8), 15 agencies and ministries will send their comments on the proposal to swap working days to extend the April 30 - May 1 holiday. After receiving all comments from the ministries and sectors, the drafting agency will synthesize and advise the ministry's leaders to submit to the Prime Minister to report to the National Assembly .

Up to now, the Ministry of Home Affairs , the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Transport have all sent documents to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in which they agree with the proposal to swap working days to have 5 consecutive days off for the holidays of April 30 and May 1.

According to Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees have a total of 11 paid holidays and Tet holidays each year, including 1 day off for Victory Day (April 30) and 1 day off for International Labor Day (May 1). If these holidays coincide with weekly holidays, employees will be compensated for the following day off. Every year, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister decides on specific Lunar New Year and National Day holidays.

Thus, the Law does not have any provisions on exchanging working days during the April 30 - May 1 holidays. After synthesizing the comments of ministries and branches, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will submit to the Prime Minister and report to the National Assembly on this issue.

If this proposal is passed, workers will have five consecutive days off from April 27 to May 1.
