Many highway projects are at risk of being behind schedule due to the early and prolonged rainy season.

According to information from the Ministry of Construction, this year's rainy season came early and is forecast to last until the end of October, causing many highway construction projects to be at risk of being behind schedule, affecting the plan to complete 3,000km of highways.

In particular, the Can Tho - Hau Giang and Hau Giang - Ca Mau projects are expected to end the loading period in September. Because the construction of the road surface coincides with the rainy season, if there is no solution to overcome the weather conditions, the project will be difficult to ensure completion in 2025.

Projects such as: Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 through Dong Nai (only 37% complete), through Binh Duong (only 39%); Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project through Dong Nai (only 30%) are also at risk of being behind schedule due to bad weather and heavy rain.

The An Huu - Cao Lanh project through Dong Thap currently has a production capacity of 64%, the loading time is expected to last until the end of 2025, and is unlikely to be completed in 2025.

In order for projects to be completed on schedule, the Ministry of Construction recommends that the Prime Minister direct localities to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to request investors and contractors to develop reasonable and scientific construction plans; increase human resources, machinery and equipment; overcome adverse weather conditions so as not to affect construction progress; proactively prevent storms and rains, and take measures to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles, especially in underwater construction areas.

In addition, the Ministry of Construction recommends that the Government direct localities to review their organizational structure, develop transition plans, and absolutely not allow any interruption in site clearance and project implementation when merging provinces and organizing two-level government.

Information from the Ministry of Construction also said that from now until August 19, it is expected that 6 expressway component projects will open to traffic on the main route or some sections on the main route with a total length of 208km, including the following sections: Vung Ang - Bung, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, the remaining 13km of Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, some sections of the expressway component projects Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan.
