Ms. Pham Minh Thao, Principal of Thanh Cong B Primary School ( Hanoi ) has just sent an open letter to parents whose children were involved in the incident where many students had stomach aches and vomited.

"This incident is something none of us wanted to happen. The school would like to apologize to parents and hope to receive your understanding and sympathy," Ms. Thao emphasized.

According to the letter, the school understands that food safety is an issue that parents are always concerned about. Therefore, food hygiene and safety are always a priority for the school. The school has implemented many measures to ensure safety for this work.

Every day, the Board of Directors, representatives of school departments, parents' representatives, and medical staff carefully check the food sources in the kitchen.

The school also went with representatives of parents from each class to the facility providing meals for students to see the food source and production process.

Regarding the incident where a series of students had to go to the doctor, of which 10 were hospitalized for digestive-related treatment, the school said it had summoned the leaders of the food supply unit to record and grasp the situation.

With the intervention of local health authorities, food safety authorities and several departments, Thanh Cong B Primary School is cooperating to determine the cause of the incident.

In the immediate future, the school has adjusted the menu, reviewed all classes, assigned people to monitor the students' health and visited the hospital to check on students.

On October 13, some students at Thanh Cong B Primary School showed symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Through cross-checking of classes, on October 14-15, many more students with the above symptoms had to go to the doctor, of which 10 students were hospitalized for inpatient treatment with symptoms of digestive disorders and gastrointestinal infections.

After that, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh District (Hanoi) directed schools to clean the environment and disinfect all schools in the district. Specifically, 64 kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and 72 independent kindergarten classes have focused on disinfecting and cleaning classrooms to ensure hygiene and prevent epidemics.

The district requires strict handling of organizations and individuals who violate the law, publicize violating units and products on mass media, and report according to regulations.
