According to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the number of tourists traveling on the central routes of Ho Chi Minh City is quite crowded compared to a few months ago, but the business situation of the stores along these routes is still very gloomy. The situation of closing and returning premises shows signs of increasing, not decreasing.

Although located on Le Loi Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) about 550 m long, one of the most beautiful in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, intersecting with "golden" streets such as Pasteur, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Hue, there are many premises that have been vacant for months, even some premises have been vacant since the epidemic until now and still have no tenants.

According to observations, there are currently more than 20 vacant premises along this route. The fronts of these houses are covered with for rent signs. Some of the signs have been posted for too long, and due to constant sun and rain, they are torn and smudged. It is worth noting that the for rent signs are all listed by the owner, but when contacted, the other end of the line always says they are brokers and not the real owners.

A building on this street with an area of 160m2 (1 ground floor, 7 floors) has been vacant for many months. According to brokers, the rental price is about 220 million VND/month, priority is given to customers who open showrooms for cosmetics, spas, fashion ... Because the landlord requires a minimum deposit of 3 months and a contract of at least 5 years, the tenants all refuse.

Similarly, the corner space at Le Loi and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia has been without tenants for many months after a gold company vacated the house. This space has a total area of 225 square meters (9 meters wide, 25 meters long), 1 ground floor, 1 upper floor, asking rent of 290 million VND/month. Currently, the front is being used as a parking and resting place for many technology motorbike taxi drivers.

At the intersection of Ly Tu Trong and Truong Dinh streets, the above premises have not found a tenant. Talking to the broker, this premises has an area of about 500m2 (20m wide, 25m long), 1 ground floor, 3 floors with a rental price of 800 million VND/month. The contract must be signed for over 5 years. This premises was previously a Japanese restaurant but closed during the pandemic outbreak.

On streets such as Le Thanh Ton, Hai Ba Trung,... there are on average about 20 premises that are also suffering from the situation of having no tenants. Other prime premises such as at the intersection of Cach Mang Thang 8 and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai or at the Phu Dong intersection are hanging signs for rent.

A real estate agent said that because rents are still quite high, along with the economic downturn, people are tightening their spending, leading to fewer customers for stores. Therefore, many store owners cannot bear the costs and have to leave.
