Vietnamese players worth millions of euros, coach Kim Sang-sik should pay attention

There are currently many Vietnamese players playing in Europe, some of whom are valued at millions of euros. One of them is defender Kenneth Schmidt, who is highly regarded by experts. This player is currently valued at around 1.2 million euros (about 35 billion VND) by Transfermarkt.

Vietnamese-American player Kenneth Schmidt's full name is Tan-Kenneth Jerico Leka-Schmidt, born on June 3, 2002 in Freiburg, Germany. His father is German and his mother is of Vietnamese and Madagascar descent. This special origin is the legal basis and great hope for fans to look forward to the day he will contribute to his motherland. Showing his talent early, Schmidt joined the prestigious SC Freiburg football academy in 2017 and quickly affirmed his value. He became a mainstay of the Freiburg II team, playing impressively in the German third division before being promoted to the first team to compete in the 2022-2023 season. This was Schmidt's explosive season, where he had historic moments in his career: his Europa League debut against Juventus (March 17, 2023), his Bundesliga debut just two days later, and his first start in the German top flight on April 1, 2023.

His brilliant form with a total of 13 appearances in all competitions that season helped him to be valued by Transfermarkt at 3 million euros (nearly 90 billion VND) in June 2023. However, his career stalled after moving to Hannover on loan. A knee ligament injury at the end of April kept him out of action and his current transfer value has dropped to 1.2 million euros.

Other Vietnamese players are also very talented.

In addition, another Vietnamese-origin central defender, although only 20 years old, has played consecutively in a top European national championship and has had his value increased 5 times by Transfermarkt. According to the latest value update of Transfermarkt, Vietnamese-origin central defender Bung Meng Freimann, who is playing in Switzerland, has increased his value 5 times in just 3 months, from 500,000 euros to 2.5 million euros. This young player has played impressively and has been given the opportunity to play consecutively for FC Luzern (in the top Swiss national championship). For comparison, the value of the latest squad of the Vietnamese team in the FIFA Days training session this June is around 5.93 million euros.

According to statistics, this is only Bung Meng Freimann's first professional season but he has played 20 times, including 17 starts with an average of 70 minutes per match. Although playing as a center back, Bung Meng Freimann has also contributed 1 goal to the team.

Bung Meng Freimann is emerging as one of the most promising young Vietnamese players in Europe. With a height of 1.84 m, an ideal physique and a systematic training foundation from the Swiss football system, he is increasingly improving and proving himself. According to information from Vietnam Football Scout, Bung Meng Freimann is currently a Swiss citizen, with a Swiss father and a Vietnamese mother born in Vietnam.
