According to Samsung, the x.5 version of One UI was released in the early years, with the most recent version being One UI 2.5 released four years ago. Now, Samsung has decided to return to this convention when it releases One UI 8.5 in the future.
One UI 8.5 will come to devices guaranteed to update to One UI 8

While an official release date has yet to be announced, reports say One UI 8.5 (based on Android 16) is expected to launch on the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, possibly in January or February. The update will then be rolled out to other flagship Galaxy phones before gradually expanding to the rest of the devices.
Galaxy devices running One UI 8 will be updated to One UI 8.5
One UI 8.5 will be available on most devices eligible for the One UI 8 update, including all flagship Galaxy phones launched from 2022, along with a number of mid-range and budget smartphones. Here's a list of Galaxy devices guaranteed to get the update:
- Galaxy S series: Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra; Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra; Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra; Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra; Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra.
- Galaxy Z series: Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 SE (coming soon); Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6; Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5; Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4.
- Galaxy Tab series: Galaxy Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra; Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, Tab S9 Ultra; Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, Tab S8 Ultra; Galaxy Tab A9, Tab A9+.
- Galaxy A series: Galaxy A73, A56, A55, A54, A53, A36, A35, A34, A33, A26, A25, A24 and A12.
- Galaxy M series: Galaxy M56, M55, M54, M53, M35, M34 and M33.
- Galaxy F series: Galaxy F56, F55, F54 and F34.
- Galaxy XCover series: Galaxy XCover 7, XCover 7 Pro.
The above list is based on the assurance that all these devices that are eligible to run One UI 8.0 will also be upgraded to One UI 8.5. It is also worth noting that Samsung is working on One UI 8.0, a version that jumps directly from One UI 7.0 without minor versions like 7.1 or 7.1.1. This could be due to the delay in the One UI 7 rollout, which has left the company with no time for minor updates.
