Thus, after a week of suspension due to heavy flood water, Phong Chau pontoon bridge has been restored, meeting the travel needs of people in Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts of Phu Tho province and neighboring areas across the Red River safely and conveniently.
According to Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien, the current flow rate on the Red River through Phong Chau bridge area ensures the reconnection of the pontoon bridge to serve the people.

Since 11pm last night (June 19), officers and soldiers have completed the pontoon bridge, performed maintenance and technical inspection work; and started serving people from 6am to 9pm every day.
At the end of September 2024, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge was installed by Brigade 249 to serve the people of Phu Tho and neighboring areas across the Red River after the Phong Chau bridge collapsed. Every day, the pontoon bridge carries thousands of people across the river.
As reported by SGGP, a week ago, when the North had heavy rain for many days, the amount of water flowing from upstream caused a large flow rate, making it impossible to operate the pontoon bridge. Brigade 249 temporarily closed the bridge and switched to using military ferries to transport people across the Red River.
