• Determined to maintain tourism security and order, promote economic growth after merger
  • Urgently develop a plan for high-tech agricultural zone operations
  • Pillar for economic growth
  • Creating a breakthrough for growth in 2025

According to the report from the Provincial People's Committee, the province's socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2025 achieved many important results. Specifically, the total provincial product (GRDP) is estimated at 42,327 billion VND, up 7.09% over the same period. Of which, the fishery, agriculture and forestry sector (sector I) increased by 5.47%; the industry and construction sector (sector II) increased by 6.3%; the service sector (sector III) increased by 9.4%.

In the last 6 months of the year, we strive to exploit about 650,000 m3 of wood.

Besides the encouraging results, there are still certain difficulties and limitations such as: the economic scale is quite small (the province's GRDP after the merger is about 7 billion USD, equal to about 1.4% of the country's GDP); the economic growth rate in recent times has not had many breakthroughs; economic restructuring is slow, the proportion of the agricultural sector in the province's GRDP is still high compared to the national average.

In addition, in general, the province's socio-economic infrastructure system is still limited, especially the unsynchronized and poorly connected transport infrastructure system, which increases the cost of transporting goods and the travel time of people. The impact of climate change and natural disasters causes coastal and riverbank erosion, flooding; environmental pollution still occurs in some places, has not been effectively controlled, affecting production and people's lives, threatening sustainable development.

To achieve the annual economic growth target of 8% or more, the growth rate must reach 8.8% in the last 6 months of 2025. Of which, the fishery, agriculture and forestry sector will increase by 5.54%, the industry and construction sector will increase by 13.76%, and the service sector will increase by 9.13%.

Mr. To Hoai Phuong, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: "The target of the agricultural sector this year is to increase by 5.51%. The result of the first 6 months of the year increased by 5.47%, so the last 6 months of the year strive to increase by 5.54% or more; in which, the third quarter increased by 6.46%, the fourth quarter increased by 4.65% or more.

According to Mr. Phuong, to achieve the above goals, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is directing the People's Committees of communes, wards, enterprises and farmers to focus on prioritizing the development of super-intensive shrimp farming (40,000 ha), improved extensive shrimp farming, improved extensive farming in 2-3 stages (198,000 ha). At the same time, expanding the development of combined models such as: shrimp - rice, shrimp - forest, ecological shrimp farming, organic shrimp... suitable to the natural conditions of each region and sub-region. Applying new science and technology and applying international certification standards to improve the quality, efficiency and development of the shrimp industry in 2025 and the following years.

According to Mr. Phuong, one of the important solutions is to continue promoting offshore fishing, focusing on exploiting seafood species with high economic value. Strictly manage offshore fishing vessels, and propagate to fishermen to comply with regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU).

In the field of agricultural production, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will strengthen State management of the quality of agricultural and aquatic materials, environmental management; quarantine, strictly control diseases and seed quality. Direct the synchronous implementation of plans and solutions to prevent and combat flooding. Promote the application of mechanization in production, especially in the harvesting stage to improve product quality.

Continue to promote the implementation of the Project on Sustainable Development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030. The good news is that currently, cooperatives and farmers have registered to participate in the Project with a total area of over 69,304 hectares. Of which, 2-3 crop rice is over 44,188 hectares, rice - shrimp is nearly 25,116 hectares. After nearly 3 months of implementing 2 models of high-quality, low-emission rice production (60 hectares at Kinh Don Cooperative, Da Bac Commune and 50 hectares at Hong Phat Cooperative, Vinh Thanh Commune), the rice fields are growing well, promising a bumper crop, creating a sustainable direction for the agricultural sector.

From the above solutions, the province strives to achieve an aquatic product output of about 694,000 tons in the last 6 months of the year; rice output of about 714,000 tons; total pigs for sale of about 312,000; total poultry for sale of about 6,224,000; wood output of about 650,000 m3.

It can be seen that, with the foundations achieved in the past time and positive signals in the first months of 2025, along with solutions to develop agricultural and rural infrastructure, the provincial agricultural sector has been and is strongly determined to achieve the set growth target.
