Mr. Nguyen Tan Khanh (65 years old) has been attached to the Center for the past 13 years. Suffering from mild mental illness and having no family of his own, he used to live in a state of constant insomnia. Although his younger sister loved him, she could not take care of him properly, so she sent him to the Center in the hope that he would have a long-term place to rely on.

With the proper care, attention, closeness and affection from the staff, Mr. Khanh's health gradually changed positively. His insomnia was gone, and his spirit was also more relaxed. Mr. Khanh also supported the Center's staff with tasks such as bathing and feeding two patients who had almost completely lost their cognitive ability. This was his way of sharing love, to live a useful life every day.
Mr. Khanh said: “Here, I am taken care of wholeheartedly by the staff, and I am also visited and given gifts by benefactors, so I am very happy. Since coming here, I have had friends to talk to, and have participated in many singing and sports activities, thanks to which my physical and mental health has improved significantly.”
Sharing the same "roof" with Mr. Khanh is Mrs. Vo Thi Nam (73 years old). Unlike many cases brought by relatives, she was the one who proactively researched and chose the Center to rely on in her old age. At that time, Mrs. Nam lived alone and had many underlying diseases.

“Ten years ago, I came to the Center to learn about the living conditions and then decided to stay. Until now, I still think it was the right choice. I have many underlying diseases, living alone is very dangerous, but here there are always medical staff on duty so I feel very secure. Here, I feel cared for and no longer feel lonely like before,” Ms. Nam confided.
She said that occasionally, the Center organizes tours for everyone to relax and help members bond more. In daily activities, if there is anything that is not really suitable, she gently gives her comments and the staff always listens and adjusts promptly. It is this thoughtful care that makes her feel secure and comfortable when choosing to stay here.
There was a time when Mrs. Nam also tutored a boy at the Center to learn to read and count. Every day, the two of them sat together, slowly practicing each stroke of the pen. “The medical staff and the orphans at the Center made me feel like I had grandchildren at home. That is the joy of old age that I would not have easily had if I were still at home,” Mrs. Nam said emotionally.
Deputy Head of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said: “Each person has a different situation, but everyone needs to be cared for, listened to and loved. During 13 years working at the Center, I have witnessed many situations and many changes. Every time I see a person recover and improve their health, my colleagues and I are very happy. We always try our best so that everyone here feels the thoughtful and dedicated care.”
In the neat and clean rooms of Tay Ninh Province Social Work Center, the atmosphere is always warm. There, special circumstances are always shared with love by people with kind hearts./.
