Four Vietnamese students to participate in the 2024 International Olympiad in Informatics - Source: MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The special thing is that all four students who won the prize are students of the High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences , Hanoi National University. Among them, Pham Cong Minh, a 12th grader, and Hoang Xuan Bach, a 11th grader, won gold medals. Nguyen Huu Tuan, a 10th grader, won a silver medal, and Pham Ngoc Trung, a 12th grader, won a bronze medal.
The 36th IOI was held in person from September 1 to September 6 in Alexandria, Egypt. The 2024 IOI was attended by 353 contestants from 91 countries and territories (in addition to Russia, Belarus and Australia competing under the Olympic flag) and 9 contestants competing online from Israel, Iran and Germany.
With 100% of the contestants winning medals, the Vietnamese national IOI team is in the group of 4 countries and territories with the highest results according to the medal tally, after the United States, Japan and Poland (according to the results announced on the website of the IOI 2024 Organizing Committee, not ranking the Russian and Israeli IOI teams).
In 2023, the Vietnamese IOI team is in the group of 9 countries with the highest results in the medal table with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
According to the regulations of the IOI 2024 Council, the International Olympiad in Informatics has two official competition days. On each competition day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test and solve 3 problems with rich content. The results will be automatically graded online by the system and the live scoreboard will be announced throughout the two competition days (online).
This year's exam is highly difficult, requiring candidates to be able to apply knowledge flexibly and be very creative.
