Mr Macron spoke a day after a 45-year-old attacker, who identified himself as a member of the Islamic State (IS), shot dead two Swedish football fans as they travelled to Belgium to support their team in a Euro 2024 qualifier. He was later killed by Belgian police.

In Paris, a French anti-terrorism prosecutor said Tuesday that a 20-year-old man who stabbed a teacher to death and wounded three others in the northern city of Arras on October 13 had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
“We saw it again yesterday in Brussels. All European countries are vulnerable and there is a real resurgence of Islamist terrorism,” Mr Macron said after talks with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana.
“Here we reiterate our solidarity with our Belgian friends,” the French president said, adding that he could visit Israel, which is at war with the Islamist group Hamas, in the coming days or weeks.
“My hope is that we can reach a concrete agreement on non-escalation or on humanitarian issues and more broadly on everything,” Mr Macron said.
“Israel’s security, the fight against all terrorist groups, as well as the peace process and a political solution, are all interconnected,” he said.
