US President Donald Trump signs his first executive order on the day of his second inauguration as president in Washington DC on January 20.

"The heads of all departments and agencies in the executive branch of government shall, as soon as possible, take all necessary steps to end telework arrangements and require employees to return to work in person at their respective work sites on a full-time basis," the White House said in a statement confirming the executive order.

The White House also announced that President Trump signed an executive order that he said was aimed at "restoring free speech and ending federal censorship," according to Reuters. Trump and his conservative allies have accused the administration of former President Joe Biden of suppressing free speech on online platforms.

Also shortly after taking office, President Trump revoked a 2023 executive order signed by former President Joe Biden aimed at reducing the risks that artificial intelligence (AI) poses to consumers, workers, and national security.

The order signed by Mr. Biden requires developers of AI systems that could pose a risk to the national security, economy , public health or safety of the United States to share the results of safety testing with the US government, under the Defense Production Act, before releasing them to the public.

Mr. Trump also canceled the Biden administration's order to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, according to Reuters citing an announcement from the White House.

President Trump also revoked a 2021 executive order signed by his predecessor, Biden, that aimed to ensure that 50% of new vehicles sold by 2030 would be electric. The 50% target, which is not legally binding, has won the support of American and foreign automakers.

Mr. Trump also plans to direct agencies to review regulations that would require automakers to sell 30% to 56% electric vehicles by 2032.
