(CLO) US President-elect Donald Trump is filing lawsuits against major media outlets, demanding damages for information he believes is false or misleading.

Here are five notable lawsuits Trump is pursuing:

Des Moines Register lawsuit

On December 16, Mr. Trump filed a lawsuit in Iowa state court against the Des Moines Register and former pollster J. Ann Selzer, alleging that a poll released before the November 5 election that showed Kamala Harris leading him by 3 percentage points in Iowa was an act of election interference.

Mr Trump, who won Iowa, has claimed the poll was rigged and that the information was leaked to Democratic officials before it was released. The Des Moines Register acknowledged that the poll did not accurately reflect the final results, but said the lawsuit was baseless.

Lawsuit with ABC News

Mr. Trump settled his defamation lawsuit with ABC News on December 14, when the network agreed to donate $15 million to his presidential library and apologize for comments made by anchor George Stephanopoulos, who said Mr. Trump had been convicted of “rape.”

The comment was in reference to a civil lawsuit that writer E. Jean Carroll filed against Mr. Trump, accusing him of sexually assaulting her. Mr. Trump denies the allegations and is appealing the court’s ruling in the case.

Lawsuit with CBS News

Mr Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News in October, alleging the network edited an interview with Kamala Harris to sway the election results.

Mr Trump claimed that CBS aired two different versions of the interview, misleading the public about Ms Harris' views on the Israel-Hamas conflict. CBS denied the accusations, saying it did not edit the interview and that there was no deception.

Copyright lawsuit with Simon & Schuster

Mr. Trump sued Simon & Schuster and journalist Bob Woodward in January 2023, alleging copyright infringement related to the use of recordings from interviews Woodward conducted with him.

Mr Trump has claimed the recordings were manipulated and used to discredit him. The publisher and Woodward have countered that the interviews were conducted with Mr Trump’s consent.

Lawsuit with CNN

In July 2023, a federal judge dismissed a $475 million lawsuit Trump filed against CNN over the news outlet's use of the term "outright lie" to describe his false claims about the 2020 election results.

Mr. Trump claimed that CNN had compared him to Adolf Hitler in its commentary. The judge said that this was just an opinion, not a verifiable fact. Mr. Trump is currently appealing the decision.
