In a series of posts on the social network Truth Social on September 12, he asserted that he had won the September 10 debate, as well as his confrontation with President Joe Biden in June. "When a boxer loses, the first words out of his mouth are 'I want a rematch'... There will be no third debate," Mr. Trump wrote.

Shortly afterwards, at a rally in North Carolina, Harris said she and her opponent "owed voters another debate." Trump's refusal to rematch was an opportunity for Harris's team to criticize their opponent. Among them, senior adviser David Plouffe of the Democratic candidate's campaign said Trump was "cowardly."

During the Arizona rally and subsequent online posts, the former president repeated his criticism of the two ABC News journalists who moderated the debate for fact-checking his inaccurate statements but not Harris’s. He called the moderators “despicable people” and called for them to be fired for sending Harris questions before the debate, a charge ABC News has denied.

According to The Hill , some Republican politicians expressed disappointment with Mr. Trump’s performance on September 10, when he was irritated by Ms. Harris and wandered away from the main topics. Many polls showed that Ms. Harris outperformed Mr. Trump in the debate while the former president cited many social media polls to prove the opposite.

Harris’s campaign announced yesterday that it had raised $47 million in the 24 hours after the debate, a record for a single day since she entered the race to replace Biden. The Democratic candidate raised $361 million in August and had $404 million in cash on hand at the end of the month. Trump, meanwhile, raised $130 million last month.

Yesterday, the two candidates continued their campaigning journey in key battleground states to seek an advantage in what is expected to be a tight race. According to data from the polling tracking project Fivethirtyeight, as of September 12, the average of national polls showed that 47.1% of voters supported Ms. Harris while Mr. Trump was supported by 44.3%.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, will debate his Republican opponent, Senator JD Vance, on October 1.
