"Due to the terrorist act..., about 120 out of 258 vehicles carrying household goods, consumer goods, clothes and construction materials were burned down," Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) reported on November 24.

According to GNLM , on November 23, three rebel groups used drones to drop bombs on a convoy at the Kyinsankyawt border gate in Shan State, bordering China. The fire broke out and spread from one vehicle to another parked in the yard.

Meanwhile, Li Kyar Win, a spokesman for one of the rebel forces, denied burning the convoy, insisting they did not carry out attacks "to destroy the interests of the people".

Myanmar's military has lost control of several towns and military outposts in the northeast and other areas after facing the biggest-ever coordinated attack by insurgent groups.

The United Nations says more than 2 million people have fled to other parts of the country since fighting broke out on October 27.

Earlier this week, at least 10 people were reported killed in the town of Laukkai, also in Shan State bordering China, after a rocket hit a vehicle carrying refugees.

Both spokesmen for the Myanmar government and rebel groups operating in the area condemned the incident and denied responsibility.

The November 23 car fire occurred as the Chinese ambassador to Myanmar met with top officials in the capital Naypyidaw to discuss border stability. China has called for peace and stability in Myanmar.
