Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with the UK Foreign Secretary on the sidelines of AMM-58.

On the morning of July 11, within the framework of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son had a bilateral meeting with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Mr. David Lammy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

At the meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lamy, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations; agreed to continue to coordinate to promote the exchange of high-level delegations, contributing to enhancing political trust and creating momentum to bring the good cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height.

Sharing with the British Foreign Secretary about the plan to develop regional and international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that this is a major policy of the Party and State of Vietnam, thereby promoting the transformation of the growth model structure, improving the competitiveness of the economy; asking the UK to share knowledge and experience in developing financial centers, supporting Vietnam in training and attracting human resources, as well as encouraging British organizations and enterprises to participate in developing financial centers in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister also asked the UK to increase support for Vietnam in accessing green finance, clean technology and capacity building within the framework of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

The British Foreign Secretary assessed that the bilateral relationship has developed impressively in many areas in recent times, especially in trade and investment; said that the two sides have many opportunities to promote trade, strengthen cooperation in new areas such as clean energy, renewable energy, etc.; expressed interest and affirmed support for British businesses and experts to participate in projects to build and develop Vietnam's Financial Center, thereby contributing to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
