'Vietnam: A Journey' by writer Huynh Dung Nhan

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), journalist and writer Huynh Dung Nhan launched the book Vietnam Reportage: A Journey. The work depicts the bloody journeys and the massive source of documents that made his name, one of the most famous reportage writers in Vietnam.

Over 40 years of writing, author Huynh Dung Nhan has published more than 30 literary and journalistic books. He has held many positions: Deputy Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Journalism magazine, and is also a teacher who has always devoted himself to inspiring generations of young journalists.

The reportage Vietnam a journey ( photo , published by the Writers Association Publishing House) was born in a completely unexpected situation, when journalist Huynh Dung Nhan started writing a paper on the reportage 40 years of renovation for a conference in Quang Tri province. He deeply researched the formation and development process of the flow of Vietnamese reportage to reflect many contents: History of journalism during the French colonial period; Trends of reportage; About the reportage genre in the first period with the appearance of many famous writers and journalists in this field: Tam Lang, Nguyen Dinh Lap, Long Chuong, Vu Trong Phung...

He also asked himself and sought the answer to the question: "Why is reportage so strong in the period of innovation?". The author also used reportage in many press publications, with "real people and real events" to prove the fighting spirit and appeal of this unique genre.

The work is nearly 200 pages thick, beautifully presented. Because of the stroke, he took advantage of the time at home, on the plane... to draw portraits of the characters to accompany the articles. In the book, he also compiled a list of investigative reports that won the A prize of the National Press Award (from 2006 - 2024), which certainly few people have the complete list.

Highly appreciating a useful and practical work for the country's journalism, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh affirmed: "The book is a compilation containing all the love for the profession and experience of a person who both directly works and researches and teaches reportage like journalist Huynh Dung Nhan. It can be said that journalist Huynh Dung Nhan is multi-talented and has a tireless work force."
