Mr. Dinh Xuan Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Lieu province, said that the province has about 184,000 children, of which more than 5,000 are disadvantaged children.

Recently, all levels and sectors in the province have been focusing on creating all conditions for the protection, care and education of children.

On the occasion of the new school year 2024-2025, the Provincial Children's Support Fund awarded 200 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND) and 350 sets of school supplies with a total cost of about 270 million VND.

"Although each scholarship and school supplies are not much, this is a timely, humane, meaningful activity, showing heart and love, contributing to sharing and supporting children to excel in their studies and in life, reducing the burden on poor and disadvantaged households," Mr. Phuong shared.

Leaders of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Lieu province hope that students will be good, play healthily, do many good deeds, and have the will to overcome difficulties to study and practice to achieve excellent results.

Representing the students receiving the gifts, Nguyen Thi Thu Hong (grade 9 student, Chu Van An Secondary School) said that although they come from poor families, they all share the same wish to study well so that they can have a stable career in the future and help their families.

"Every year the burden on parents increases, the expenses are higher, many of our peers have to drop out of school to work to help their families, missing out on their dreams and hopes," Hong shared.

According to Hong, the scholarships and school supplies are meaningful gifts, encouraging us to strive, be confident in our studies, and successfully fulfill our dreams. Hong also promised on behalf of the students to try to be good and study well.
