Rumors that Ms. Harris owes $20 million, Mr. Trump 'calls for help paying'

US President-elect Donald Trump has written a satirical article, calling on supporters to find ways to financially support Kamala Harris's campaign.

Media reports this week said the Democratic presidential campaigns of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ended with at least $20 million in debt. The expenses reportedly came from concerts featuring many famous stars.

In response to the above information, on November 9, Mr. Trump posted on the social network Truth Social, stating: "I am surprised that the Democratic Party, despite raising a record amount of money, now has very little money left. Anything we can do to help them during this difficult time, I strongly recommend we do it."

Politico reporter Christopher Cadelago on November 6, citing a source familiar with the matter, said that Ms. Harris’s campaign had $118 million left as of October 16. However, the campaign ended with at least $20 million in debt.

Harris' campaign has not commented on the information.

Filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show that Ms. Harris’s campaign raised more than $1 billion, including money from President Joe Biden’s campaign, and spent about $890 million. Meanwhile, Mr. Trump’s campaign raised $392 million and spent $345 million, Newsweek reported.

According to The New York Times , Ms. Harris’s campaign spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to have banners fly over the field of four NFL games. The Guardian also reported in early November that the Democratic Party had to spend $450,000 a day to advertise at the Las Vegas Sphere in Nevada.

Democratic National Committee finance official Lindy Li called Harris's campaign a "billion-dollar disaster." Speaking to Fox News on November 10, Lindy Li said the campaign was $18-20 million in debt. "Harris' campaign leader Jen O'Malley Dillon promised all of us that Harris would win," Li said, adding that such promises motivated donors to believe in her and donate large sums of money, but they failed.
