Sources have revealed that US President-elect Donald Trump's team is drawing up a list of military officers involved in the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan and considering court-martialing them.

NBC News on November 18 quoted sources saying that US President-elect Donald Trump's team is drafting a list of current and former US military officers to be court-martialed.
Accordingly, all of the above officers were involved in the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, which caused criticism from both the Trump administration and current President Joe Biden.
An anonymous US official and another source said Mr Trump's team was drawing up a list of officers directly involved in the withdrawal and considering whether they could be court- martialled .

Mr Trump’s transition team is considering setting up a commission of inquiry, including gathering information about who was directly involved in making decisions for the military, how those decisions were made and whether military leaders could be prosecuted for up to treason.
“They are taking it very seriously,” said a person familiar with the plans. Mr Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In August 2021, chaos erupted in the Afghan capital Kabul as the Taliban quickly took control, while the US and its allies hastily evacuated, ending a 20-year presence in the Central Asian country.
An attack at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on August 26, 2021, killed 13 US soldiers and 170 Afghans. The event marked the heaviest casualties among Afghan civilians and US troops in Afghanistan in more than a decade.
ISIS-K, an affiliate of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack. There are also reports that many usable US weapons have fallen into the hands of the Taliban.
By June 2023, the US State Department reported that the final result of the evacuation was the evacuation of 125,000 people, including 6,000 US citizens.
Regarding another move by Mr. Trump before taking office, The Hill newspaper reported on November 18 that he had just chosen Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Brendan Carr to be the chairman of this commission.
Mr. Carr (45 years old) is the highest Republican official at the FCC, the independent agency that regulates communications in the US and its communications around the world .
According to Reuters, Mr. Carr is a supporter of billionaire Elon Musk, and criticized Vice President Kamala Harris when she appeared on a comedy variety show on NBC News.
