Ronaldo trains at 2am: “I thought he was crazy”

VHO - More than just a football star, Cristiano Ronaldo has long been known as a model of discipline and professionalism in top sports. Recently, former French midfielder Blaise Matuidi - CR7's former teammate at Juventus - shared an impressive story about the Portuguese superstar's rare dedication.

In an interview with Tuttosport (Italy), Blaise Matuidi - the 2018 World Cup champion - recalled unforgettable memories during his time playing at Juventus from 2018 to 2020.

What surprised Matuidi was not Ronaldo's technique or goals, but his teammate's "extraordinary" training spirit.

“One night, after a Serie A match, we returned to Juventus’ Continassa training centre at 2am just to get the car to go home. We were all exhausted, but Ronaldo invited Medhi Benatia to the gym for a recovery session. I thought he was crazy!”, Matuidi recalled.

Even though he was in his 30s at the time, Cristiano Ronaldo still maintained a rigorous training regimen, regardless of time and physical condition.

Not only does CR7 not allow himself to be careless, he also tends to drag his teammates into that strict routine.

“Ronaldo never stops. He is always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave,” Matuidi added.

According to the former French midfielder, it is his absolute commitment to maintaining his physical condition and competitive spirit that has helped Ronaldo maintain his level at an age when most players are on the other side of their careers.

“That is the secret of his success. And that is why today he can still make a difference on the pitch,” Matuidi – who will retire at the end of 2022 – asserted.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing for Al-Nassr Club (Saudi Arabia), still maintaining impressive form despite turning 40 years old.

Not only is he a great goalscorer, he is also an example of determination and discipline - something that was forged from thousands of hours of silent practice that only those who have played alongside him can understand.
