Vietnam's only airport named in world's best award

The annual World 's Best Airports of 2023 awards have just been announced by international aviation rating organization Skytrax. No airport in Vietnam is on the list of the world's 100 best airports, but Da Nang airport was honored in two smaller categories, which are World's Most Improved Airport (ranked 3rd) and Asia's Best Regional Airport (ranked 10th).

Da Nang International Airport has a total airport area of 861 hectares, 2 runways, an international passenger terminal of 48,000 square meters, and plays the role of a regional airport in the Central Highlands - Central region.

Regional airports are defined as medium-sized airports that primarily serve domestic or short-haul passengers. The names in the top 10 best regional airports in Asia include Centrair Nagoya (Japan), Haikou Meilan (China), Fukuoka (Japan), Hyderabad and Bangalore (India), Xi'an (China), Seoul Gimpo (South Korea), Changsha (China) and Sapporo (Japan).

Meanwhile, the airports rated as having the best level of improvement in 2023 appear on the list, in addition to Da Nang: Shenzhen (China), New York LGA (USA), Sofia (Bulgaria), Sapporo (Japan), San Jose Juan Santamaría (Costa Rica), Calgary (Canada), Porto (Portugal), Rome Fiumicino (Italy), Baltimore-Washington (USA).

Many Asian airports are on the list of the world's 100 best airports in 2023, with Singapore's Changi ranked first; Japan has 2 airports in the top 10: Tokyo Haneda (3), Tokyo Narita (9); South Korea has Seoul Incheon (4); Qatar's Doha Hamad (2).

Southeast Asian representatives in the list of 100 include Jakarta (43), Kuala Lumpur (67), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (68).

The World's Best Airport Awards were first presented in 1999, based on passenger votes.
