The leader of Road Management Area III said that the new Cau Lau bridge located on Vinh Dien bypass (connecting Dien Ban town with Duy Xuyen district) was completed and put into operation in 2005. Over time, the bridge has shown some damage affecting the load-bearing capacity of the span structure.

Currently, Road Management Area III is implementing the “Project for emergency repairs to ensure traffic safety on the new Cau Lau Bridge”. Meanwhile, the old Cau Lau Bridge is also undergoing repairs, so all vehicles are prohibited from crossing the bridge.

On December 13, Road Management Area III issued Document No. 2978 announcing the traffic diversion plan during the repair of Cau Lau Moi Bridge. At the same time, the media announced the traffic diversion plan during the repair of the bridge (phase 1 from 12:00 on December 23 to December 31, 2024).

To date, the construction and repair of the new Cau Lau Bridge (phase 1) has completed the main items of the project according to the approved design documents and ensured safe and smooth traffic. Therefore, Road Management Area III announces that all types of vehicles are allowed to travel through the new Cau Lau Bridge normally from 8:00 a.m. on December 30, 2024.

Road Management Area III requests the Joint Venture of Vinh Hung Trading, Consulting & Construction Joint Stock Company - CE Vietnam Joint Stock Company (the contractor) to coordinate with relevant units to remove or obscure the content of the installed road sign system (to serve the organization of traffic flow) so that vehicles can circulate normally. The Area also assigns Road Management Office III.1 to inspect the implementation.

As reported by Quang Nam Newspaper, the ban on all vehicles (except buses, ambulances, and emergency vehicles) from passing through the new Cau Lau Bridge for repairs has put great pressure on the access roads, overloading Ba Ngan Bridge (National Highway 14H), Phong Thu (DT609), and Giao Thuy (DT609B). The large volume of trucks and container trucks circulating has made the traffic situation at Ai Nghia intersection (Dai Loc district) even more complicated, and Phong Thu Bridge (Dien Ban town) has a technical problem.
