Creating momentum for the city's economic acceleration

July marked an important transition after the merger of administrative units, with many changes in management and operation, resource allocation and reorganization of urban development space. Accordingly, the city's economy maintained good growth in the first 7 months, expanding production and business sectors to create momentum for acceleration.

Expand economic development

In July, the city's trade, service and transportation activities recorded many positive changes from many summer tourism festivals. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025 was successfully organized, attracting a large number of tourists, creating a clear driving force for the accommodation, food and beverage and travel industries.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in July 2025 is estimated at VND 23,016 billion, up 2.5% over the previous month and up 28.2% over the same period in 2024.

Accumulated in the first 7 months of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at 146,990 billion VND, an increase of 24.9% over the same period in 2024.

Wholesale sales of goods in July 2025 are estimated at VND 27,206 billion, up 1.9% over the previous month and up 12% over the same period in 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, total wholesale sales of goods are estimated at VND 174,564 billion, up 16.8% over the same period, in which all groups of goods increased.

For the industrial sector, the index of industrial production (IIP) in July 2025 increased by 15.4% over the same period in 2024.

It is estimated that in the first 7 months of 2025, the IIP index in the city will increase by 13.3% over the same period in 2024, of which the key processing and manufacturing industry will increase by 13.1%; production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning will increase by 16.2%; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities will increase by 7.5%; mining activities will increase by 52.1%.

This is a quite impressive increase in the past 3 years (2023 - 2025 period), although the domestic and international economic context still has many difficulties and challenges.

Meanwhile, agricultural production took place under relatively favorable weather conditions, with farmers focusing on planting and tending rice and other crops. However, pig farming faced difficulties due to the resurgence of African swine fever in many localities.

Forestry has flourished with new forest plantations and increased timber output. Fisheries activities have developed steadily, with fishing fleets operating effectively offshore, and fishery output increasing slightly compared to the same period last year.

In the first 7 months, the area of newly planted concentrated forests reached more than 6,200 hectares, up 12.5%; scattered trees were more than 5.6 million trees, up 5%; exploited wood output reached 1.32 million m3, up 7.5% over the same period in 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, aquatic product exploitation reached more than 90,000 tons, up 2.9% and up 2,500 tons over the same period.

Continue to implement solutions

According to the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the department is advising and restructuring the agricultural production sector towards modernization, improving productivity and competitiveness, creating key, unique, organic, value-added and food-safe products.

At the same time, developing rural economy associated with eco-tourism, experiences, integrating multi-value in agricultural products; strictly implementing regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU)...

Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the trading activities of goods in Da Nang city after the merger continued to record a positive growth trend. Retail and wholesale sales both increased compared to the previous month and the same period last year, most product groups maintained a stable growth rate, showing that people's purchasing power is gradually recovering, consumer demand is improving, and at the same time reflecting positive signals in the distribution and circulation of goods in the expanded city.

To promote production and business, the city's industry and trade sector continues to play a focal role in implementing free trade agreements and implementing the information and propaganda plan on international economic integration for the 2021-2025 period.

The Department coordinates with relevant agencies and units to propose policies to support the development of logistics services, creating a favorable foundation to attract import and export goods to circulate in the city.

At the same time, the department implements policies to support businesses in technological innovation, production development, and improving competitiveness to meet the increasing demands of the export market.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Director of the Department of Finance, the key tasks of the department in the coming time are to remove difficulties and obstacles in investment, unblock resources, promote investment attraction; review and evaluate the results of implementing policies to support businesses, promptly adjust and supplement policies in a focused and key direction.

The next task is to improve the efficiency of the city's public investment capital management; develop a medium-term capital plan for the period 2026 - 2030 and allocate annual capital plans.

In addition, the department strengthens the management and supervision of enterprises; researches policy mechanisms to improve financial capacity, production and business efficiency and market competitiveness of enterprises after restructuring.

July: Consumer price index increased slightly

On August 5, Da Nang Statistics reported that the consumer price index (CPI) in the city in July 2025 increased slightly by 0.2% compared to the previous month and increased by 3.21% compared to the same period in 2024. The average CPI in the first 7 months of 2025 increased by 3.32% compared to the same period in 2024.

In the 0.2% increase in CPI in July 2025, 8/11 groups of goods and services had price indexes that increased; 3/11 groups of goods had price indexes that decreased compared to the previous month. The groups of goods that increased compared to the previous month were: housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 0.87%; food and catering services increased by 0.24%; and clothing, footwear and hats increased by 0.12%.

The group of household appliances and equipment increased by 0.12%; the group of medicines and medical services increased by 0.08%; the group of beverages and tobacco increased by 0.08%; the group of other goods and services increased by 0.03%; the group of education increased by 0.02%. The groups of goods with a decrease compared to the previous month were: the group of transportation decreased by 0.55%; the group of culture, entertainment and tourism decreased by 0.04%; the group of post and telecommunications decreased slightly by 0.01%.

In July, the complicated developments of African swine fever affected the market, causing the prices of meat and pork products to drop sharply. However, the increase in rental housing prices, electricity and water, and the cost of public transport and tourism services contributed to a slight increase of 0.2% in the CPI in July 2025 compared to the previous month.
