According to SlashGear , Internet speed is a very important factor for a smooth gaming experience, when the speed is unstable, players will encounter problems such as lag, stuttering and even disconnection. However, what happens when you have a high-speed Internet package but still have a headache because of lag when playing games via Wi-Fi?

Many gamers experience lag when playing PC games over Wi-Fi.

The problem could be a hidden setting on your PC related to your Wi-Fi card. Windows has built-in power management settings that help your PC consume less power, including a power setting for your Wi-Fi card that can significantly slow down your internet speed. However, this setting can be easily turned off.

Wi-Fi card power settings are usually enabled by default on Windows, to turn this feature off, do the following:

  1. Right-click the Windows icon at the top of the Taskbar and select Device Manager.
  2. Next, find the Network adapters line and open up all the submenus inside.
  3. In the list, find and right-click on the Wi-Fi card > select Properties.
  4. In the window that appears, click on the Power Management tab and uncheck the line 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save Power'.
  5. Finally click OK to save the settings.

But it is also important to consider the hardware specifications of your Wi-Fi card. If your device is old or does not support new Wi-Fi standards, consider upgrading. You should also choose a newer Wi-Fi router, which can provide faster data transfer speeds and better coverage, ensuring a smoother gaming experience.
