With a big win over U.16 Myanmar, U.16 Vietnam entered the Southeast Asian semi-finals with the top spot in the group.

After a 1-1 draw with U.16 Cambodia, U.16 Vietnam must beat U.16 Myanmar in the final match at 3:00 p.m. on June 28 to take the top spot in the group. Because in the remaining match, U.16 Cambodia (currently on the same points as U.16 Vietnam but ranked behind due to a lower goal difference) will almost certainly beat U.16 Brunei, a team that has conceded... 18 goals in 2 matches.

The pressure to win made U.16 Vietnam, although they had more possession of the ball in the early stages of the match, rush in decisive situations. However, in the context of thirst for goals, coach Tran Minh Chien and his team were unexpectedly "given a gift" by their opponents.

U.16 Vietnam controlled the match

In the 18th minute, U.16 Vietnam coordinated well when the ball was deployed down the sideline and then passed back. Thai Hoa intercepted the shot, although the ball was not too dangerous, U.16 Myanmar goalkeeper Htet Wai Yan did not handle it well, causing the home team to concede a goal. It was cruel for Htet Wai Yan because the U.16 Myanmar goalkeeper had played well before that.

After Thai Hoa's goal, U.16 Vietnam played with more and more confidence, while the impatience was transferred to U.16 Myanmar. In the 26th minute, Thai Hoa shined again with a beautiful long-range shot. The ball went very hard, giving Htet Wai Yan no chance to save the goal.

Although U.16 Myanmar then scored a goal to shorten the score before the end of the first half due to a mistake by the U.16 Vietnam defense (Nyu Nyi Thant scored), Coach Tran Minh Chien's students still played with great concentration and courage to control the game in the second half.

A well-deserved victory for U.16 Vietnam

Under the pressure of U.16 Vietnam, the U.16 Myanmar defense completely collapsed. In the 66th, 71st and 81st minutes, Duy Dang, Thai Hieu and Viet Long scored consecutively, sealing a 5-1 victory for U.16 Vietnam.

It is commendable for the young Vietnamese players that all the goals came from beautiful and well-coordinated moves. The only difference from the previous match against U.16 Cambodia was that in this match, U.16 Vietnam finished more effectively, and at the same time, they were able to predict the opponent's counter-attack "weapon" well.

With a big win over U.16 Myanmar, U.16 Vietnam finished Group B in first place, scoring 20 goals and conceding only 2. With the same 7 points as U.16 Cambodia, U.16 Vietnam ranked higher due to a better goal difference (in the remaining match, U.16 Cambodia beat U.16 Brunei with a score of 6-0). Coach Tran Minh Chien and his team are in the semi-finals.
