This 120-year-old city has the highest density of trees in the country. According to the Department of Technical Infrastructure ( Ministry of Construction ), the green tree ratio per person in urban areas of Vietnam is only 2 - 3 m2/person, while the minimum green standard of the United Nations is 10 m2 and the standard of modern cities in the world is from 20 - 25 m2/person.

In 1914, Leopold Sabatier (France) returned to take office as Consul in Dak Lak and built the District Chief's Agency Building, now the historical-cultural relic at 04 Nguyen Du (Bao Dai Palace), Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province.

Ambassador Leopold Sabatier planted many types of trees in the campus such as Lagerstroemia, Black Star, Camphor tree (in the photo) which have been recognized as Vietnam heritage trees. The tree has a diameter of about 2.5 m, and is over 30 m high. The ancient forest in the center of Buon Ma Thuot City is carefully cared for every day by workers.
