"Center-back Nguyen Thanh Chung has completed a contract extension with Hanoi Football Club for another 5 seasons, extending his journey with the capital team until 2030," Hanoi FC announced. This is the fourth contract extension of the capital team in 2025, after Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Van Quyet and Vu Dinh Hai.
Nguyen Thanh Chung is a product of the Hanoi FC youth football system. The player from Tuyen Quang has played in the V.League since the age of 19, competing early for a starting position with Do Duy Manh, Tran Dinh Trong and Bui Hoang Viet Anh during the golden period of 2016-2022 when the capital team won 4 V.League championships. In addition, the central defender born in 1997 was also used by the coach as a striker.

In the 2024-2025 season, Thanh Chung continued to prove his worth when playing impressively for both his club and the Vietnam national team. Thanh Chung plays an important role in the Vietnam team's journey to win the AFF Cup 2024. He is the central defender most used by coach Kim Sang-sik. This player is also in the top 5 of the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball vote.
