On his personal Telegram page on the evening of July 4, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on leaders of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), as well as political parties participating in the upcoming general election, to pay attention to instructing people on how to vote properly.

Mr. Hun Sen affirmed that this is an important part of the election to take place smoothly and successfully.

In the message, Prime Minister Hun Sen also directed the Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to urgently track down the subjects who conducted the online instruction on how to mark ballots incorrectly as mentioned above, to handle them according to regulations. He affirmed that this handling action will contribute to supporting the National Election Committee of Cambodia (NEC) and the functional forces to properly perform their duties.

Mr. Hun Sen's statement was made after a group of fake people, claiming to be members of the CPP working group, were discovered to have instructed people on how to mark their ballots incorrectly, leading to invalid ballots.

In a related development, on July 6, NEC is expected to hold a meeting with relevant parties chaired by Mr. Prach Chan, Chairman of NEC, to introduce the ink used for fingerprinting, serving voting activities in the upcoming election.
