Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin

The two sides agreed to soon develop an Action Program for the new period, prioritizing promoting cooperation in food security, high-tech agriculture, electric vehicles, digital economy , green economy , and circular economy .

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the morning of October 11, on the occasion of attending the 44th-45th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in Vientiane (Laos), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a short meeting with Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Head of the Indonesian delegation attending the conference.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in the Strategic Partnership between the two countries in recent times, especially the joint preparations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1955-2025) and the 80th anniversary of the two countries' National Day.

Discussing the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to enhance political trust through delegation exchanges and high-level contacts through all channels; promote cooperation through Party, State, National Assembly channels and people-to-people exchanges, and local connections; actively promote the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms; coordinate to effectively implement signed agreements and agreements, and promptly develop an Action Program for the new period, prioritizing the promotion of cooperation in food security, high-tech agriculture, electric vehicles, digital economy, green economy and circular economy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed to soon increase bilateral trade turnover to 18 billion USD in a more balanced direction; create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to invest in each other's markets; request Indonesia to continue to coordinate with Vietnam to minimize illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities; and treat each other's fishing vessels and fishermen humanely, in accordance with the Strategic Partnership and the spirit of ASEAN solidarity.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin shared about the generational change in Indonesia's leadership in the coming time, and emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two countries will not only remain unchanged, but will continue to develop more and more comprehensively.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Indonesia to support and send high-ranking representatives to attend the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) and the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, which will take place in 2025 in Vietnam./.
