Pravda reported that the Russian Su-35S fighter jet used a unique R-37M air-to-air missile to shoot down the Ukrainian plane.

The Russian Su-30 and Su-35S are superior to the F-16 in close-range dogfights due to their maneuverability and large number of short-range missiles.
The Su-35 is a highly improved version of the Su-27 fighter, capable of carrying more than 7.7 tons of weapons on 12 hardpoints, along with a 30mm cannon, with a range of 1,500 to 4,500km. A Russian aerospace manufacturer said the Su-35 is a fighter with first-class technical specifications and characteristics.
According to TASS , the Su-35 has achieved certain successes in Ukraine.
