Russian Intelligence: The West Wants to Deploy 100,000 Troops to Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said the West is planning to send troops to Ukraine and freeze the conflict with Russia by deploying 100,000 peacekeepers to Kiev.

According to SVR, NATO member states are increasingly in favor of freezing the conflict in Ukraine on the current front lines. The goal of this action is to prevent a strategic defeat of Kiev by Russia.

A freeze would allow the West to rebuild Ukraine’s military, which has suffered heavy losses after three years of conflict. NATO has also set up training centers to train more than a million Ukrainian conscripts each year.

The freeze in the conflict also offers Ukraine an opportunity to restore its military industry, which has been repeatedly attacked by Russian missiles and drones.

“To achieve these goals, the West will essentially need to send troops to Ukraine under the guise of peacekeeping forces. NATO needs at least 100,000 troops to be present in Ukraine to implement this plan,” the SVR statement said.

According to the SVR, the plan would also see Ukraine divided into four zones. Romania would control the Black Sea coast, Poland would control western Ukraine, and Britain would hold the north, including Kiev. Germany would take control of the central and eastern zones.

"Does Russia need such a peaceful solution? The answer is obviously no," said the SVR representative.

The SVR statement came after Le Monde reported that France and Britain had “reactivated” a discussion on the possibility of deploying troops in Ukraine. Earlier this year, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that the West should not rule out this option to contain Russia, despite strong opposition from many NATO allies.

For its part, Russia has repeatedly stated its opposition to the freezing of the conflict, stressing that all the goals of its military operation, including neutrality, demilitarization of Ukraine must be realized.

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, although sending troops to Ukraine does not receive support from the European Union, some countries still want to carry out this plan.
