Lao General Secretary and President attends launching ceremony to support Vietnamese people affected by natural disasters

General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife and members of the high-ranking delegation of the neighboring country attended the ceremony.

On the Vietnamese side, there were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung, and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, on behalf of the leaders of the Party Committee, government and people of the city, sent his deepest condolences to the families whose relatives died or were injured due to the recent natural disasters in the northern provinces.

Mr. Loc also sent his gratitude and encouragement to the forces, especially the officers and soldiers of the armed forces, his warm regards and sympathy. At the same time, he sent his condolences to the Party, government, Fatherland Front and all the people of the provinces affected by the storm.

Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the City Front calls on all people, agencies, organizations, business communities, and all classes and strata of people in the area to help spiritually and materially, towards our beloved Northern compatriots.

As of 8:00 a.m. on September 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Fund had received support from over 1,100 organizations and individuals with a total amount of more than 4.7 billion VND. At the launching ceremony held on the afternoon of September 12, 91 businesses, units and individuals registered to present support plaques with a total amount of more than 58 billion VND, of which goods were nearly 6.3 billion VND.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 10, at the Launching Ceremony to support people affected by storm No. 3 organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City registered to donate 120 billion VND to share the difficulties and losses that people had to endure during the recent floods.
