General Secretary receives Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation

General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Chairman Maeda Tadashi personally to Vietnam's socio -economic development.

On the afternoon of December 4, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Maeda Tadashi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), who is visiting and working in Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam warmly welcomed Mr. Maeda Tadashi and his delegation to visit and work in Vietnam; highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Chairman Maeda Tadashi personally to Vietnam's socio-economic development, especially through key projects on infrastructure and climate change response.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to its relationship with Japan; he said that the issues that the Japanese Government and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation are also Vietnam's breakthrough priorities in the coming time, including transport infrastructure, energy, and digital technology.

The General Secretary welcomed the initiative of the Asian Net Zero Emission Community (AZEC) proposed by former Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and is making efforts to implement the roadmap towards the 2050 target that Vietnam committed to at COP26. Vietnam is ready to cooperate with Japan and other countries in the above-mentioned fields, and requested Japan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to continue accompanying Vietnam's development, while paying attention to promoting infrastructure connectivity between Southeast Asian countries and the Mekong Sub-region in terms of transport infrastructure, energy, and big data.

Mr. Maeda Tadashi sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation; affirmed that the Japanese Government, including the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, considers Vietnam an important partner in the region, ready to cooperate with Vietnam in traditional areas such as transport infrastructure, climate change response, while expanding to new areas such as energy conversion, artificial intelligence, big data, support for startups... thereby actively contributing to the development of Vietnam and the Vietnam - Japan relationship./.
