Ho Chi Minh City allocates enough capital to implement the overall consulting package for the 7 metro line project.

Ho Chi Minh City is organizing the implementation of the work of preparing a feasibility study report for urban railway projects according to regulations.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just informed that the City People's Committee has allocated enough capital of 200 billion VND to implement the overall consulting package and carry out a number of project preparation tasks for 7 urban railway (metro) routes.

Currently, the City is organizing the implementation of the Feasibility Study Report for urban railway projects according to regulations.

7 metro lines are allocated capital for consulting packages including: Ben Thanh - An Ha line; Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem and Tham Luong - Cu Chi lines; Hiep Binh Phuoc - Binh Trieu - Cong Hoa 6-way intersection - Tan Kien - An Ha line; Dong Thanh (Hoc Mon) - Tan Son Nhat airport - Ben Thanh - Nguyen Huu Tho - Hiep Phuoc urban area line; Long Truong - Hanoi Highway - Saigon bridge - Bay Hien - Depo Da Phuoc line; Inner belt line and Tan Kien line - Nguyen Van Linh street - Thu Thiem - Thao Dien - Thanh Da - High-tech park - Vinhomes Grand Park.

Previously, with the 7 metro lines with a total length of 355 km mentioned above, Ho Chi Minh City issued a plan to build them within the next 10 years, starting with metro line 2, expected to start construction in December 2025.

To mobilize about 40.2 billion USD to invest in 7 metro lines, according to the plan, the City People's Committee will arrange a medium-term public investment plan, annually supplementing the central budget with targeted capital for the local budget.

At the same time, the City will supplement revenue sources, save annual central budget expenditures (if any) and other legal capital sources; develop plans to mobilize official development assistance (ODA) capital and foreign preferential loans to implement projects; arrange balance and medium-term and annual public investment plans for local budget capital; develop plans to issue local government bonds to allocate capital for urban railway projects.

According to the planning of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister , the city's urban railway system will have 10 metro lines with a length of about 510.02 km; 1 riverside line and 1 potential line connecting Can Gio.
