The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport requested the consulting unit to develop both elevated design options for 5 BOT projects to evaluate and compare the most effective options.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just announced the conclusion of the Director of the Department of Transport, Tran Quang Lam, at the meeting on the Pre-Feasibility Study Report (initial report) of 5 BOT road projects in the City.

When conducting the pre-feasibility study report, the Department of Transport requested the consulting unit to develop a design plan for the elevated or level route to evaluate and compare the plan to ensure technical requirements and economic and social efficiency.
According to traffic experts, research into building elevated roads will help reduce land clearance costs because according to calculations by state agencies, land clearance costs at the five BOT projects are very high.
For example, the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 13 (from Binh Trieu Bridge to the border of Binh Duong province), with a total investment capital of 13,851 billion VND, the land clearance capital is 9,375 billion VND.
Or like the National Highway 1 Expansion Project (from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to the border of Long An province), the cost of site clearance is about 7,700 billion VND.

Currently, 5 BOT projects in Ho Chi Minh City invested under the special mechanism of Resolution 98/2023/QH15 have received many proposals from investors.
Among them, the North-South Axis Road Upgrade Project (section from Nguyen Van Linh Street to Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway) is receiving the most attention. Up to now, this project has received proposals from 4 investors.
The National Highway 22 Upgrade Project (from An Suong intersection to Ring Road 3) has received the attention of two investors.
It is expected that in October 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will organize a workshop to collect opinions from experts, scientists, the Fatherland Front and people on 5 road projects invested in the form of BOT.
