Ho Chi Minh City has 5 specialized high schools after merger

GD&TĐ - After merging with Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City only has 5 specialized high schools.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, there will be 5 specialized high schools, including:

Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (under the management of the former Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City); Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (under the management of the former Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City); High School for the Gifted under Ho Chi Minh City National University;

Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (formerly under the Department of Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province); Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (formerly under the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province).

Of which, 3 specialized schools recruit students nationwide, including: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and Gifted High School.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the enrollment targets of 5 specialized schools are as follows: Le Hong Phong Specialized School enrolls 805 students; Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School enrolls 525 students; Gifted High School enrolls 595 students; Hung Vuong Specialized School enrolls 385 students; Le Quy Don Specialized School enrolls 455 students.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, specialized schools will still operate stably in the 2025-2026 school year.

After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City will not only become a megacity in terms of geographical area and economic development potential, but also the largest city in the country in terms of education. It is estimated that the city will have about 2.6 million students, with more than 3,500 educational institutions from preschool to high school. In terms of the number of teachers, the new Ho Chi Minh City will have more than 110,000 teachers.
