On March 12, in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Korea National Open University launched the UNESCO UNITWIN 2025 Project with the theme: Future orientation of distance education in the era of artificial intelligence (AI): Challenges, opportunities and global cooperation.
Foreign experts present the future direction of distance education in the AI era
The project creates a network of connections with universities around the world to promote UNESCO's research training and program development in the fields of gender, media and information technology.
At this year's event, researchers and experts in the field of open and distance education focused on sharing experiences, discussing new trends in digital education and applying AI to teaching.
Topics such as digital transformation in higher education, developing digital skills for learners and cross-border educational cooperation models will be discussed, aiming to find solutions to improve training quality.
Within the framework of the program, 6 speakers from Nepal, Mongolia, Malaysia and Vietnam shared their experiences on integrating AI in open and distance education.

Professor Nguyen Minh Ha, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that in 2016, the school developed a separate online learning program, marked by the establishment of the E-Learning Center. To do this, the school invested and developed not only the infrastructure system but also the platforms, software and content for online learning.
Developing online learning programs is not only an end goal but also serves as a pilot project and incubator for new ideas in educational technology: how to leverage technology to improve and enhance the quality of education.
These efforts have brought many results to the school. Many research and operational results from the E-Learning Center and its programs have been integrated back into both distance learning programs and regular training programs.
