Journalist and UFO researcher Jaime Maussan hosted the public presentation of two fossilized bodies believed to be of aliens. Several other scientists co-organized the event.
Mr. Ryan Graves, Executive Director of the organization called “Americans for Safe Aerospace” and also a former US Navy pilot - attended the event.
Two small, “non-human” fossilized remains, displayed in open boxes for all to see, were found in the Peruvian city of Cusco, and are believed to be around 1,000 years old.
Researcher Maussan spoke to members of the Mexican government and US officials about his findings.
The specimens were recently studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where scientists were able to extract DNA evidence using radiocarbon dating, he said.
“These specimens are not part of our Earth’s evolutionary process… They are not creatures found after a UFO crash, but they are found in fossilized form in diatom deposits,” the expert said.
Mexico is home to a number of reported UFO sightings.
On March 5, 2004, Mexican Air Force pilots using infrared equipment to search for drug smuggling planes accidentally recorded 11 UFOs in the skies over southern Campeche.
The country's Ministry of Defense issued a press release on May 12 of that year, along with a video showing moving lights at an altitude of 11,500 feet (more than 3.5 kilometers).
Mexican UFO researcher Jaime Maussan explained that the tape is "proof of alien visitation".
Previously, according to UFO researchers, local residents reported a mid-air collision between a UFO and a small plane near the town of Coyame on August 25, 1974. The incident prompted the Mexican military to open an investigation.
