China says the more aggressive the 'Taiwan independence' forces become, the more Beijing will 'tighten the noose' around the island.

At a press conference on the sidelines of the National People's Congress on March 9, spokesman for the Chinese military delegation Wu Qian said that Taiwan receiving more weapons from the US would not change the inevitable collapse of the forces demanding "Taiwan independence".

"The more aggressive those who seek Taiwan independence, the tighter the noose around their necks," Xinhua quoted Wu Qian as saying.

This person affirmed that the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair and unification is the main trend.

Mr. Ngo warned the separatists to step back from the "cliff" or risk being cornered if they continue to go the wrong way.

China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has left open the possibility of using military means to unify. In recent years, the Chinese military has stepped up patrols and exercises around the island.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said it had detected nine Chinese military aircraft, seven naval vessels and two balloons around the island from the morning of March 8 to the morning of March 9. According to Taiwan News , Taiwan has dispatched aircraft and warships along with coastal missile systems to monitor China's activities.

"The Chinese military is a force for action against separatism and promoting unification," said Mr. Wu Qian.

At a parliamentary session this week, China announced that it would increase its defense spending this year by 7.2 percent from last year, matching the previous two consecutive years of increases. Specifically, the proposed defense budget for 2025 is 1.78 trillion yuan (about 245 billion USD).
