Singapore's Senior Minister for Communications and Information Tan Kiat How and Director of the National Data Administration of China Liu Liehong co-chaired the Dialogue, discussing developments and policy issues in the digital sector.
China and Singapore pledged to strengthen digital cooperation in the first meeting of the bilateral digital policy dialogue mechanism. The two sides agreed to use the mechanism as a platform to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the digital field.
The DPD framework, also known as the “3-2-1 framework”, outlines three objectives, two focus areas and a common approach. Accordingly, the three objectives of the DPD are to enhance mutual understanding, promote policy innovation and address early challenges. The two focus areas of the DPD are to facilitate trusted trade data flows and to promote artificial intelligence (AI) governance and safety.
The dialogue advocates a pragmatic and flexible approach that reflects the dynamism of the technology sector. This approach involves taking concrete steps to address issues while remaining adaptable to rapid changes in the digital sector, ensuring that the partnership remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
The first DPD between China and Singapore emphasized the importance of encouraging exchanges among participants from various levels, including government agencies, colleges and universities, research institutes and enterprises.
